The Visual Resources Center Digital Image Collection includes 23,277 images to date. Images are continually added to support the content of images used to teach Art History and Art Studio courses but are also available for use campus-wide, subject to the VRC copyright statement. Digital images are added to this collection in coordination with the image content available in major image databases licensed by Sawyer Library, specifically ARTstor and CAMIO.

Please see the Visual Resources Center Website for specific instructions for access to these databases as well as to the slide collections: http://www.williams.edu/ArtHistory/SlideLib/.

Slides with clear copyright may serve as image sources and may be scanned for educational use; please consult Visual Resources staff for confirmation. This website also contains directions for accessing images directly from WWW sources and assessing their quality and appropriateness for use, as well as how to create digital images.

Lawrence Hall supports classroom image presentation through both analog (slide) or digital means. Slides are housed in both the Lawrence Hall and the Clark Art Institute Visual Resource Centers, whose complimentary collections number approximately 360,000 slides. Lawrence Hall contains slides of ancient art and architecture, non-western art, architecture, decorative art and study aids, while the Clark Art Institute contains renaissance and post renaissance painting, sculpture and contemporary art.
