about the collection
Team Lavaka Image Collection
The images archived on this site were collected between 2003 and 2005 in heavily lavaked regions near Miarinarivo (west-central Madagascar) and Amparafaravola (Lac Alaotra region, north-central Madagascar).

The lavakas are assigned to evolutionary stages I-V according to the criteria of Wells et al. (1991)* and brief descriptions are provided. Geographic locations are given in UTM co-ordinates (zone K38).
